Carrefour des Quatre Bras redevelopment

On October 8, 2021, the Flemish Government approved the inception memorandum for the regional plan “Environmental reconstruction of the Carrefour des Quatre Bras on the Brussels Ring Road (R0)”.
An information meeting was held on Thursday November 25, 2021, and the public is being consulted on this departure note from November 16, 2021 to January 14, 2022. Four solutions are proposed for the redevelopment of the Quatre Bras crossroads.
You can find a description of this project on our website www.kraainem-unie.be, in which we also detail how citizens can react. We are also planning specific communication on the actions undertaken officially by the municipality.

WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

A public consultation was launched on November 16, 2021 and will run until January 14, 2022. It concerns work planned on the East Ring managed by De Werkvennootschap for the Flemish Region. The municipality of Kraainem is particularly affected by the redevelopment of the Carrefour des Quatre Bras in Tervueren.

ALTERNATIVES ON THE TABLE

The Quatre Bras crossroads comprises a northern section (Av. Baron d’Huart and Chaussée de Malines) and a southern section (Avenue de Tervueren). These are the subject of separate development alternatives, all of which can be combined.
– Quatre Bras Nord: three alternatives are envisaged: an ovoid, two intersections with traffic lights and a traffic circle plus an intersection with traffic lights.
– Quatre Bras Sud: there are four alternatives. Three of them involve reducing the Avenue de Tervueren from four to two lanes for motorists. The municipality will oppose this reduction, which will inevitably lead to a transfer of traffic to the surrounding roads and have a negative impact on mobility in Kraainem.
