Environment and energy
Outside my mandate for the commune, I wished to remain active, in a reduced way, in the field of the transition of energy and the environment: I keep a close contact with my former employer the Confédération de la Construction (for which the aspects “energy” and “environment” become more and more important) insofar as this knowledge is useful for the communal projects (insulation of the buildings, climate, energy transition, life cycle of the materials, recuperation and analysis of the grounds…) I also worked on indoor air quality, hence the idea of the CO2 sensors to measure the air quality during the COVID period in the buildings accessible to the public in Kraainem, or the active participation in the Curieuzeneuzen to measure the outdoor air quality in Kraainem.

Another important project will be the securing of asbestos applications by 2040 (in Flanders). I am also actively involved in the UBCNA, the Belgian Union against Aircraft Nuisances (as vice-president), and we often forget about the pollution aspects due to (ultra)fine particles, among others.
And, last but not least, I’m working, together with the University of Ghent and Leuven, on an exciting project: an energy cadastre. More details will follow …
