For five years now, your Kraainem-Unie \/ Pro Kraainem majority has been working to improve the quality of life in our community.
\ncan look back on a healthy balance sheet. Here is an inventory of the projects that have been carried out, in addition to the day-to-day management of the community.
\n(public services, building permits, schools, etc.).<\/p>\n

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the local staff who work so hard to make a difference for you, their “customers”.
\nShould we do better and faster? Of course! Nevertheless, we do our utmost with the means at our disposal and
\ndespite chronic staff shortages. Here are a few examples of concrete achievements over the past five years.<\/p>\n

I’m pleased to share with you the progress of many projects in our beautiful commune in this, our third

Kraainem: 3rd legislative review, transparency and trust on the agenda<\/h2>\n

A dynamic view of project progress, presented in an ultra-modern, never-before-seen dashboard.<\/p>\n

While election fever is starting to rise in many communes, Mayor Bertrand Waucquez (Kraainem-Unie) and his majority (Kraainem-Unie and Pro-Kraainem) remain focused on fulfilling the promises made in 2018, and for the 3rd time in a row are presenting a balance sheet that allows citizens to follow – in full transparency – the corresponding projects.<\/p>\n

A new, ultra-modern dashboard<\/h4>\n

For the third year running, Mayor Bertrand Waucquez (Kraainem-Unie) and his majority partners Kraainem-Unie (an independent, multilingual citizens’ movement) and Pro-Kraainem (a bilingual political coalition) are presenting a dynamic dashboard in the form of a newspaper delivered to every letterbox, plus an online version. This trilingual table (FR, NL, ENG) provides a transparent, straightforward overview of projects completed and planned in the commune. The table can be consulted on the www.kraainemdoingthings.be website, and is updated regularly, providing a dynamic overview of project progress.<\/p>\n

Five years of results and counting!<\/h4>\n

With the introduction of Kraainem Doing Things, the majority has chosen the path of good governance and open communication. By proactively disseminating information, the mayor intends to strengthen the dialogue with residents and encourage citizen participation, which is so important to the current majority. The first assessment of this legislature was published in 2021, and is a forerunner in this field, since it will only become compulsory across the board in 2026 (‘de septemberverklaring’ \u00e0pd 2026, as decided by the Flemish government in 2023).<\/p>\n

“Unnecessarily complex minutes and hard-to-read documents drive citizens to give up. With this report, we want to change that and motivate citizens to take an interest in public affairs”, says Marie-France Constant (Kraainem-Unie), alderman for communication and participation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It’s already been five years since this unprecedented majority, between a citizens’ movement and a political coalition, began working to improve the quality of life in Kraainem.<\/p>\n

“As mayor, it’s very important for me to be able to show citizens where their money is being spent in a simple and efficient way. By communicating transparently, we aim to encourage and facilitate citizen participation in the community. I would like to thank the citizens for their expression of confidence in the management of the municipality, as demonstrated by the Gemeente Stadsmonitor at the end of 2023, which places us in the top 10% of municipalities in Flanders in this respect,” adds Mayor Bertrand Waucquez.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A dynamic and innovative approach<\/h4>\n

In Kraainem, we innovate, while remaining close to our citizens, using modern technologies. It’s with this same idea of transparency and accessibility that, since January 2021, Burgomaster Bertrand Waucquez has been in contact with citizens via a Facebook Live every Friday at 6pm, where he discusses current events in the commune, and where all citizens can ask questions “live”.
